This article is part of Our philosophy: Training Zones and will describe the Zones based on your Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE)

Using a description of how you feel

Z1
very low intensity, you are able to talk all the time

Z2
intensity which you can hold for a long period, slightly faster breathing

Z3
hard intensity, fast and deep breathing, talking only in short sentences

Z4
very hard, you don't feel like talking anymore

Z5
maximum effort, only sustainable for short period, not able to talk

Z6
maximum effort, only sustainable for short period, not able to talk

Using numbers

Z1
RPE = 1

Z2
RPE = 2-3

Z3
RPE = 4-6

Z4
RPE = 7-8

Z5
RPE = 9

Z6
RPE = 10
